Talk about mental resiliency and some tactics to develop entrepreneurs’ mental resiliency.

Intro

  • Welcome to looking ahead podcast. Today is my third episode of the entrepreneurial conditioning series and today I’m going to talk about mental resilience.
  • Last time I talked about the entrepreneurial conditioning score (or ERS). I explained how it works and why it matters.
  • I also talked about the five pillars or elements of inner strength that will help you build internal strength. To build inner strength you need to
    • Build resilience, flexibility, and control of your thoughts and emotions
    • Build depth and connection with your spiritual dimension
    • Prepare your family and friends to support you in this journey
    • Build financial stability and independence from your startup financials
    • And, build consciousness of your body and make it stronger every day to feed your brain with energy when it is exhausted.
  • Today I’ll focus on mental resilience and how you can take control of your mind and form a more balanced perspective about yourself+ as an entrepreneur.

Chapter 1 – what is mental resilience?

  • Resilience is a very broad topic and it can be applied in different areas, such as emotional, physical, or mental. They are all interconnected. But I’d like to make it simple by providing a general definition.
  • “It’s your ability to withstand adversity and bounce back and grow despite life’s downturns,”
  • Resilience is not a trampoline, where you’re down one moment and up the next. It’s more like climbing a mountain without a trail map. It takes time, strength, and help from people around you, and you’ll likely experience setbacks along the way. But eventually, you reach the top and look back at how far you’ve come.
  • It is not about becoming a different person. It is about you becoming more conscious of your thought process and keep improving it to drive a positive point of view about yourself and the world around you.
  • You will constantly be hit by unexpected events and changes around you. They will certainly get you out of your comfort zone and out of balance. It is about thinking about how you perceive and think about these events so that you break into a new frame of mind.
  • You also want to take the proper position from your startup. Your startup is not you.
