- Welcome to looking ahead podcast. I’m your host Mo and today marks the start of a series to talk about entrepreneurial journey conditioning.
- Throughout this series, I’ll share with you my entrepreneurial journey, learned lessons, and some interesting stories that you can carry with you to think deeply about your journey as an entrepreneur.
- Before starting my journey 4.5 years ago as a full time entrepreneur I read a lot of books and talked to many people. However, I made almost all the mistakes that these books advised me not to do.
- Half-way through my journey, I asked myself what the hell Am I doing all those mistakes? I realized that I was out of my balance and that I had a wrong perspective about the whole journey. A lot of things changed after I changed my point of view I started to grow significantly from that point.
- So, We will together through the emotional journey of building anything great.
- We will also go through the five necessary success factors that you should prepare and nurture for your journey.
- I’ll share also practical steps and advice to continuously build your strength and keep growing throughout the journey with the least pain.
- Whether you are a full-time entrepreneur or just getting started, I highly recommend listening to the whole series.
Chapter 1 – Why this series
- I’m an entrepreneur who decided just to do after long professional life as an engineer, product manager, and being in leadership positions. I studied a lot about entrepreneurship to prepare myself for this journey. Yet, I made all the mistakes that books and courses I took told me not to do. The reason was I was out of balance most of the time. I learned a lot about myself and the journey the hard way.
(this can be one long full take) - In numbers, during my 4.5 years as a full-time entrepreneur
(I can add sfx to each sub point)- I was about to shut down three times. One of them was 1 week away from running out of money.
- I pivoted the company and product twice
- I lost my co-founder
- I rebuilt the team with my new co-founder twice
- I changed the business model twice
- I lost my father
- I had to deal with two challenging teenagers
- I talked to 100s of VCs
- I was lucky and just made a recent exit. I’m far from being done, but I thought that what I learned so far is worth sharing because I don’t want you to go through the same amount of pain I went through.(cheerful sfx) It is a tough journey no matter what. But you don’t want to lose your balance(balancing sfx) /short pause/ or even worse /short pause/ lose yourself on this journey. (disappointed Crowd ‘aww’ sfx / classic lightning with rain sfx)
This series is about how to condition yourself as an entrepreneur for such an exciting and at the same time challenging journey. (small crowd “yeah!” sfx)
